Visa Application FAQs for Becoming an Au Pair in China

Becoming an au pair in China requires a specific visa application process. GlobalYouth will assist you by providing the necessary supporting documents and guidance throughout this process.

Q: What kind of visa will I need to become an au pair in China?

A: Au pairs will need either an Exchange Visa (F Visa) or Student Visa (X2 Visa) for a six-month program. For a 12-month stay, an X1 Visa is required. Alternatively, the F or X2 Visa can be renewed for another six months after the first half of the year in China.

Q: Will GlobalYouth assist me with the visa application process?

A: While GlobalYouth cannot apply for the visa on your behalf, we will provide necessary documentation, such as an invitation letter or admission letter, to help with your visa application.

Q: How long does the visa application process take?

A: Typically, the process takes 4-7 working days from the date of submission (excluding shipment time) to obtain your Chinese visa.

Q: Can I apply for a visa to China if I'm not currently in my home country?

A: Yes, you can apply at the Chinese embassy in the foreign country where you reside if you can provide legal residency documentation, like a work or student visa.

Q: Do I have to pay for the visa fee myself?

A: Yes, you will need to pay for the visa fee when applying. However, this fee will be reimbursed upon completing the au pair program.

Q: Can I travel abroad or back to my home country during my stay in China?

A: Your ability to travel depends on the type of visa and the number of entries granted by the Chinese visa office. Generally, you'll receive a single-entry visa, meaning if you travel abroad during your stay, your visa will be invalidated, and you'll have to reapply for a new Chinese visa.

Q: Where can I find more information about applying for a visa to China?

A: You can find detailed information and links to the Chinese embassy in your home country through https://cova.mfa.gov.cn/.
