On the final day of their Chengdu adventure, Cassy, Ellery, and William embarked on a journey through history, culture, and flavors. From the ancient mysteries of the Sanxingdui Museum to the serene ambiance of Wen Shu Yuan, and finally, a flavorful farewell dinner, their last day in Chengdu was packed with memorable moments before returning to Beijing.
Morning: Discovering the Ancient Sanxingdui Civilization
The day began with a visit to the famous Sanxingdui Museum, where the trio was guided through exhibits showcasing artifacts from a civilization that thrived over 3,000 years ago. A professional guide shared fascinating insights into the bronze masks, sculptures, and tools discovered at the site, giving a glimpse into the advanced culture of the ancient Shu Kingdom.

Afternoon: Zen Tea Culture and Sugar Painting at Wen Shu Yuan
After exploring the ancient wonders of Sanxingdui, the group visited Wen Shu Yuan, a Buddhist temple known for its tranquil atmosphere and cultural significance. In the serene environment, they participated in a Zen tea ceremony, where they learned the art of mindful tea brewing and tasting.

The visit also included a hands-on experience with sugar painting, a traditional Chinese craft. Under the guidance of a local artisan, the au pairs watched intricate designs take shape using melted sugar, each one a delicate and edible piece of art.

Evening: Farewell Feast with Chengdu’s Signature Hotpot
The last meal in Chengdu was a fitting celebration of its bold culinary tradition. The trio enjoyed a delicious Chuan Chuan Xiang (串串香) hotpot dinner, featuring skewered meats, vegetables, and tofu cooked in a spicy, flavorful broth. Sharing laughter and stories over steaming pots of Sichuan spice, the group reflected on their journey together.

Departure: Farewell to Chengdu
After their dinner, a GlobalYouth special car took the trio to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, where they said goodbye to the city that had given them so many unforgettable experiences. As they boarded their flight back to Beijing, they carried with them not only souvenirs but also a deep appreciation for Chengdu’s rich culture and warm hospitality.
